Went up north for Spring Break--too much fun!! It was so hard to go back to work this week!
Spent some time with the in-laws and played lots of mahjong...
Heavenly @ Lake Tahoe (Windows Movie Maker is addicting--pure time suckage!)
Then we went to the Dodger vs. Giants game at the super nice AT&T Park. Dodgers won!! And nope, I still can't name a single Dodger player...but they had yummy garlic fries.
Eleanora even had a Giants onesie--too cute!!
Loved catching up with SB people at Ray's Sushi (Catherina got us one of those cool sunken bamboo-y rooms)
Went to Easter Service at GRX and then met up with Ange and Walt at Tomatina's to caravan home
Experimented with Windows Movie Maker this weekend....
I <3 Mammoth! Fun, fun, fun!
Oh my goodness, it was over 80 degrees in the valley today---Boooo!!! I don't want winter to end!
Wow, 2007 is already 1/4 over. I know, I'm behind! Let's see...some highlights from the past couple months:
FEC Mammoth Snow Trip -- lots of fun and fellowship!!
San Jose -- Welcome to the world Eleanora Fukuda Wong!! Congrats June and Bryant! She's beautiful!
San Jose and Santa Cruz -- Visiting Allen's family. Dave and Sharon flew in from Michigan--and of course, Isabel!! She's so cute!
Started the Perspectives course with Charisse -- very challenging and convicting. I can't keep up with the reading, but the messages have been very good. Never realized God was so strategic in His plans and purposes throughout history. I guess I'm in the process of trying to discern what God's purpose is in my life and how I can serve Him effectively in my daily life, particularly at school with my students and co-workers.
Read Across America Day -- Dr. Seuss' birthday and a very fun day at school. Everyone comes in pajamas and volunteer readers from the community come and read to the kids all day (which means a break from teaching for me!) Thanks, Ez, for coming to read to my class!! They loved you!!
New obsessions:
Knitting! Now Gloria just needs to teach me how to end it or else my scarf'll wind up being a rug!
The Dixie Chicks! They rock! They are such talented musicians! Y'all need to watch their documentary "Shut up and Sing." I really like Natalie Maines' humor, candor, and courage--even her stubborness was a bit endearing.
BTW, did you know she's married to Adrian Pasdar (Nathan Petrelli from Heroes)? Very cute family!
Speaking of Heroes---April 23rd?!!! Seriously?!! Arggg!!!
Welp, that's about it--peace out!
Currently Watching Dixie Chicks - Shut Up & Sing By Natalie Maines, Emily Robison, Martie Maguire, Rick Rubin, George W. Bush, Simon Renshaw (II), Adrian Pasdar, Gareth Maguire see related

Very useful piece of equipment, but in adverse conditions BEWARE!
So we were driving to Mtn. High on the 15 and the wind was CRAZY strong there!! Loud whistling, trees bowing over, cars shaking all around, etc...when suddenly! The wind rocked the minivan in the left lane ahead of us so hard that its entire rack, plus the 4 snowboards caged within, blew off the roof, flipped up like a wall, kinda hovered like some sort of metal kite for a split second, and then headed straight for our lane!
I swerved quickly into the right lane, and Dan swerved quickly to the other lane just in time to escape the blasted thing as it crashed onto the freeway (though we did nick it with our tires), while all other traffic screeched to a halt. Thankfully, no one was hurt! ...except those poor snowboards... j/k
Even though I'm still a bit shaken, when I think about it, it could have been a lot worse and just serves as a reminder of the necessity of prayer before any road trip! And, it also validates the 3-second space cushion rule they teach you in Driver's Ed.
Praise God that we arrived safely and were able to enjoy a day of snow and fun! Thanks for the videos, Allen!
Yay! First snowboarding trip of the season! Allen and I went to Snow Summit with Connie, Charisse, and Walter. SO FUN! I was pretty rusty in the beginning, but after a couple runs, I finally found the best adjustment for my bindings and could tackle the black diamonds with Allen (although very slowly...). The snow was man-made, icy, and hard-packed (ouch!), with lots of bare dirt patches abounding, but still..there was snow!
SNOW + SUNSHINE + GOOD FRIENDS = A GREAT DAY!
(I loved Charisse's mirrored goggles. From checking your teeth to checking out cute guys...those suckers are totally multifunctional! Hee hee!)
Then we jetted over to K-town's Manna (never ending Korean BBQ) for Sung's Birthday. I'm sooooo full!! All those calories we burned skiing and boarding are coming back with a vengeance tonight! But the delicious food is so worth it!
Had the day off today for Yom Kippur, so a bunch of teachers from my school decided to go golfing. So fun! This was only my second time, but I think I'm getting better! At least, I was actually hitting the balls straight this time! There is such a satisfying sound when the club makes contact with the ball and goes THWACK!
The teachers in my group were all serious golfers, which was intimidating at first, especially when they're throwing all these terms at me like loft, wedge, hook, slice, cut, woods, irons, pitch, and mulligans. Huh? But they helped me a lot, especially on the correct stance, grip, and swing. There were so many things to remember at once: grip your thumb, choke the club, put pinkie in between pointer and middle finger, feet apart, rotate your hips, brace your shoulders, elbow in, bend your knees, shift your weight...oh yeah, and SWING!
We went to the El Cariso Golf Course in Sylmar, which was much nicer than the Van Nuys Course we went to last time. 18 holes, baby! I almost made par on the 8th one! I think it was called a bogey when you go one stroke over. Anyways, yay! Can't wait to play again! But I think I need to practice on the driving range before I go out with them again. Any takers?
